Description Of Work: Very experienced and professional trainer. He came to our home to give us some hands-on instruction with dealing with our two crazy Australian Shepherds (one crazi...er than the other). He was on time, and actually spent more time with us that he originally planned, and didn't charge extra for his additional time.
Member Comments: Prior to him coming to our home, he spent a great deal of time with me on the telephone, discussing the basics of the problems we were having with our dogs. He gave me some ideas on how to start managing them better and some exercises to work on prior to his scheduled visit.

One of our dogs is very fearful of strangers and the other is toy-obsessed. He spent most of his time working with the fearful one, but also spent a good amount of time with our toy-loving dog.

Although our fearful dog was still not sure about him, by the time he left she was licking him and taking treats from his hand gently.

He was patient and took a great deal of time to work with us and our dogs. He gave us a lot of pointers on how to better manage them and now we will put his instruction to work for a few weeks and have him come out and work with us again. I am very glad we worked with him and look forward to working with him again.

Member Comments: Overall has been excellent! Dave is brilliant with animals, AND their owners. He's been out 2x and my dog has responded positively, and I've learned better how to handle her. She's a senior 95 lb. Anatolian Shepherd that I took home from a rescue place. While she loves all people, from little kids to adults (even the postal workers), she wasn't socialized properly with other dogs. Now she is getting that, and responding better. I'm also understanding her behaviors better thanks to Dave. We'll have some more lessons (more for me than her no doubt)! Dave's price isn't just for an hour - he'll stay until he feels your dog (and you) have gotten what is necessary from that day's training. And his price was excellent! The above is what he quoted me, but after meeting my dog and hearing our story, we received a discount. I couldn't believe it - his initial price was already better than other dog trainers). Dave is outgoing, friendly, exuberant, compassionate and really cares about animals, and how people care for them. You'll get more than your money's worth if you hire Dave.

"Consider yourself and your dog lucky to learn from the best. After adopting Beau, my 1 1/2 year old Redbone Coonhound, I recognized some deficit areas where we could improve. I put out an 'APB' and found a few numbers of "reputable trainers." After speaking with a few of them, I wasn't impressed. Then I saw Dave's flyer and emailed him. He responded within a few hours and spent a considerable amount of time with me on the phone discussing Beau, even before meeting us in person! It was clear to me that Dave would be our teacher. Without a doubt, Dave has helped as Beau transitions from being a loudmouth, out-of-control puppy into a respectful, playful companion.

As animals do, Beau brings me so much joy. Dave's instinct is to appreciate and help clients build upon those joys, through an attentive connection that incorporates structure, consistency, and lots of positive reinforcement. More importantly is the education that the client receives, apart from the dog.

Over the months, Dave's explicit instruction has taught me how to effectively manage Beau's high energy and sometimes stubborn qualities. Particularly, we were having barking and howling issues around separation anxiety that Dave helped us resolve swiftly and humanely. Under Dave's care, Beau continues to thrive, and improve his manners and socialization with other animals, including cats!

I have worked with various trainers previously, and with other dogs, and have not achieved the results that I have experienced in having Dave as a teacher.

Without a doubt, I trust Dave implicitly in helping Beau improve. Additionally, I can honestly say that without Dave's guidance, knowledge, connection to the canine world, and instruction, I wouldn't be half the Mom I need to be with big, goofy Beau.

When you recognize the positive changes you and your dog make as a direct result of lessons with Dave, you, too, will know that you've made the correct choice. I have lived with dogs for a long time and I never understood them until I took lessons with Dave. He is caring and will give you as much time as it takes to help you work through your problem. I used him to help re-socialize my Lab. She didn't grow up around a lot of dogs so she was afraid of them. With in two visits she was already walking with another dog. He's been doing this a really long time and I would never use anyone else.

Dave's training is priceless. It was so weird because even after the first session it was like I was talking to my dog for the first time. My husband and I have been around dogs all our lives but until working with Dave we never truly understood them. Dave's patience, experience, and critical thinking make him the best dog trainer I've ever encountered. He's taken Urabon, a lab/dalmatian mix, who used to bark at every dog that got within 5 feet of her and turned her into a happy social dog. Calling Dave was the best thing I ever did for my furry family and I can't recommend him enough to anyone I meet who needs a dog trainer.

Dave Eggers makes my dog happy bottom line. My neighbor, friend, and dog trainer  Eggers is an absolute joy to have around my Rottweiler Marley. Marley, an obstinate, dominant female, responds extremely well to his love and gentle style of training (she may listen to him better than me at times!). If you're in the market for a cutting edge, “behavioral specialist”, then I suggest you run to the phone. When I met Eggers I’d just adopted a Siberian Husky who’d been attacked by coyotes. He was wounded and traumatized and, as I later found out, sorely lacking in doggie social skills. Although his physical wounds were healing, his emotional ones were not. Just when I’d begun to think I’d bit off way more than I could chew… enter Eggers . After just one visit Bella Luna was a different, more trusting, less fearful dog. It was obvious to me by Eggers second visit that he had a “sense” of just what this animal needed. I’m not exactly sure how he does what he does, or what makes his philosophy so special, but it really doesn't matter because the results are in; my dog is healthier, happier and more well adjusted and I am grateful! We still have one more hurdle to jump-the DOG PARK, but I am confident these results will be just as amazing as the rest of them have been.Thank You, Eggers

Dave has an extraordinary gift with dogs…and their owners. I had a rambunctious puppy and an older dog with lingering socialization issues. With keen intuition and a gentle, graceful approach, Dave was able to quickly size up the behavior issues and train the dogs (and me) to live harmoniously together.

 

He clearly loves what he does and dogs naturally respond to his nurturing yet firm style. He may be the Rock’n Roll dog trainer but the song my dogs are singing is a Turtles flashback “So Happy Together.”

I asked Dave Eggers to train my dogs after seeing him at the dog park with a pack of 15 dogs that showed astonishing obedience to him. I would not have believed it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. We have a 2-year-old Lab mix and a Shepard mix who is almost 2-years-old. They are very sweet dogs with boundless energy. Although we love them a lot, we were very frustrated at their lack of obedience and way they playfully terrorized our home and yard. They were so exuberant around people that they barked and jumped all over our guests. We became frustrated to the point that we resigned ourselves to locking them in the kitchen when guests visited or when we were at our wits end with them. We were sad that we weren’t able to enjoy them as part of the family.

 Dave arrived and changed everything for us. He is the not the kind of trainer that just throws a bunch of treats at the dogs while barking “sit” and “stay” commands to them …anyone can do that. Dave utilizes what seems to us a keen understanding of dogs and the relationship between dogs and people to do his magic. Over a couple of months of weekly visits, Dave taught us how to know our dogs, how to predict their behavior and how to intervene in a gentle, intuitive manner that ultimately transformed the dogs behavior and the way that we behaved around them! He even incorporated our 6-month old baby into the training and helped us to foster a safe and loving relationship between them. We all (the dogs included) really enjoyed our sessions with Dave. It never felt like training (I came to understand this as part of Dave’s genius). Rather it felt like we were hanging out with a friend while learning skills and deepening our bond with our dogs. Dave trained our dogs in a gentle, subtle (but powerful) manner in real-world environments. He even came to a holiday party that we held at our house and proved to us that our dogs can interact beautifully with a room full people and tables full of food. Dave is a truly unique trainer who got amazing results with our dogs in a short period of time (my husband and I joke that Dave might be 50% dog himself!). We recommend him to all of our friends and we recommend that you call him right away if you want to live in peace and joy with your furry friends.
